The ten Left parties including CPM and CPI have decided to conduct 30 hours protest in Vijayawada city from October 16 demanding justice to affected families from various government and private projects implemented as part of development.

Haranath (Liberation) and other leaders MuppalaNageswara Rao, Jalli Wilson, JV Satyanarayana Murthy, Y Venkateswara Rao, M Krishna Murthy, Guraam Vijaya Kumar and PV Sundararama Raju took part in the meeting held at Dasari Nagabhushana Rao Bhavan in the city here on Wednesday and announced several decisions.
On the occasion, they said the governments have been collecting lands from farmers for various projects including Polavaram and other irrigation projects, ports, airports, industries, industrial corridors. Roads and SEZs but the officials were neglecting the rights of owners in the process of land acquisition. They said the government had displaced the people of 14 villages under Polavaram project without providing proper rehabilitation and relief measures.
They stated that China government had set up a department with 50,000 staff to provide alternative arrangements for project victims.
They demanded the government solve the grievances of victims in two months and review the total rehabilitation and resettlement measures.The government should discuss the problems of victims with various associations and parties, they demanded.
