Amaravati: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao felt the heat of the biometric system failing to take off in the education department. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stopped short of taking his cabinet minister to task over the poor implementation of biometric attendance in all schools, colleges and universities.

He expressed his strong displeasure over the poor quality of the biometric devices resulting in delaying the process. The minister sought to defend himself saying his education department had no role in procuring the devices. The CM in turn directed the officials to ask the contracting agencies to replace the faulty devices.

The Chief Minister rated the performance of Health and Education departments as ‘very poor’. “Administrative failure is found to be the major cause for spread of communicable deceases in the State. The Medical department failed in taking certain measures in beginning of rainy season leading to a spurt in incidence of diseases” he observed. He emphasised the need for a better coordination among government agencies to deliver the goods in a better way.
