Disillusioned the Visakhapatnam native perhaps was for the manner his credentials (he received Arjuna only this year) were ignored for the `50,000 monthly allowances announced the TOP scheme, but on Friday there was reason to celebrate. Naidu has provided more than a ray of hope to the young tennis player.

In a significant development, the Chief Minister announced cash reward of Rs 75 lakh for Myneni, who has an impressive track-record. He won a gold medal in mixed doubles and a silver medal in men doubles at the Incheon Asian Games 2014.

Born into a rural background in Vuyyuru and brought up in the Port City, Myneni was selected under a sports scholarship in 2006. He has graduated with a double major with degrees in Finance and Economics from the University of Alabama in 2010.
