While devotees are finding spiritual elevation, tourists feel rejuvenated at the foot of the nature’s beauty despite hectic trek to through the thick jungle. It has become the best place to hang around with family and friends.

Recent rains filled the nature-made tanks in the hills and helped the waterfall at the temple flow in its full glory, for the first time in the decades attracting hundreds of visitors. Bhairavakona, a pilgrim and tourist spot on the borders of Prakasam and Nellore districts in the Nallamala forest, stretches about 250 square kilometres on the eastern hills.

The historians say that the temple of Bhairava carved out of hills dates back to the Pallava’s reign, about 700 AD to 800 AD. The locals claim that there are over one crore Sivalingas in a perimetre of 25 sq km around Bhairavakona temple.

As the Dasara vacation began, many who want to drive away stress are making a beeline to Bhairavakona, a 5-km distance from Kottapalli of CS Puram mandal. After the bath, they are offering prayers to Kalabhairava and Trimukha Durgamba while enjoying the nature and its beauty.
