Kadapa: The police arrested two persons and recovered Rs 5.5 lakh worth 18 two-wheelers from them on Tuesday. The accused were identified as Palagiri Venkateswara Raju (25) of Tangutur village in Rajupalem mandal and Balaveeti Venkata Subbaiah (30) of Kummari Kottala street in Badvel town.

Speaking to the media at Proddatur on Tuesday, DSP A Srinivasulu said that police personnel have conducted vehicle checks on the outskirts of Proddatur town on Tuesday night. The police came across Venkateswara Raju driving a two-wheeler without proper documents. Suspecting his behaviour, the police took him into custody.

The DSP said that he confessed to crime during the interrogation. The accused hid the two-wheelers in a house near Proddatur. Based on the information provided by Raju, the police took Subbaiah into custody from Badvel for purchasing 8 two-wheelers from Raju. The DSP declared rewards to the cops for nabbing the accused. Proddatur CI U Sadasivaiah, II-Town SI M Malleswara Reddy and other police personnel were present.
