Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to prepare plans to conduct ‘Formula 1 Power Boat World Championship’ competitions in River Krishna in Vijayawada in 2018. Addressing the AP Capital Region Development Authority meeting at Secretariat on Wednesday,

the Chief Minister suggested to officials to prepare plans and make arraignments required to conduct Formula 1 Power Boat World Championship in River Krishna. He said the F1 was similar to Formula 1 car racing and racers across the world would come to Vijayawada to participate in the world power boat championship.

The event would be held for 10 days. Officials told the Chief Minister that there was a possibility for the audience to view the boating race from 30-metre range of river bank. As part the championship, fashion show and food festivals would be conducted during the entire duration of the event.

The Chief Minister suggested that it would be good to conduct cultural programmes and craft exhibition too. He also suggested to Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana and officials to find out the right time to conduct the championship in Vijayawada.
