A case has been registered in Hyderabad against prominent Dalit writer Kancha Ilaiah for hurting the sentiments of the the Arya Vysya community through his book 'Samajika Smugglurlu Komatollu' (Vysyas are social smugglers).

The case was filed by a 22-year-old student who approached a local court stating that the book had hurt the religious feelings of all Hindu communities, Dalits and others apart from the Arya Vysya community.

Registered under IPC sections Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 153A ( promoting enmity between different groups on basis of religion or race) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), the case was registered against Ilaiah on Wednesday.
