IIIT Nuzvid student commits suicide
Sagireddy Poorna Lakshminarasimha Murthy, 16, a IIIT student, committed suicide due to personal reasons by hanging from ceiling fan in the hostel room on Wednesday night.
Vijayawada: Sagireddy Poorna Lakshminarasimha Murthy, 16, a IIIT student, committed suicide due to personal reasons by hanging from ceiling fan in the hostel room on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when the other inmates had gone for dinner about 9.30 pm. The watchman had noticed Murthy was hanging from ceiling and informed the officials. He was immediately shifted to the hospital in ambulance.
But, the doctors have declared he was brought dead. The student was studying first PUC and hails from Malikipuram mandal of East Godavari. Post-mortem was conducted on Thursday and the body was handed over to family members. Nuzvid Town Circle Inspector K Ram Kumar said the student had committed suicide due to personal reasons and he had earlier not informed his roommates about the problems he has been facing.
Meanwhile HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas on Thursday inquired about the suicide in IIIT Nuzvid. The officials have narrated the incident took place in the hostel to the Minister. The HRD Minister will hold a meeting in Vijayawada on October 16 with the heads of the higher educational institutions in the State to discuss the recent incidents taking place in IIIT in Nuzvid.
Earlier, some students were sacked and some others suspended for ragging incident in IIIT Nuzvid campus. Since then, the HRD Minister is not happy with the developments taking place in the campus, which is one of the biggest educational institutes with more than 7,000 students.
