Master plan to give Tirumala a facelift
The master plan designed by Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) is expected to be a catalyst in changing the very face of Tirumala, abode of the deity Sri Venkateswara Swamy. The plan which is reportedly receiving final touches, aims to streamline the growth of the hill town, develop infrastructure to ease pilgrim rush and improve passenger amenities by and large.
Tirupati: The master plan designed by Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) is expected to be a catalyst in changing the very face of Tirumala, abode of the deity Sri Venkateswara Swamy. The plan which is reportedly receiving final touches, aims to streamline the growth of the hill town, develop infrastructure to ease pilgrim rush and improve passenger amenities by and large.
Accordingly, the bus stand is likely to be shifted from its present location. The premises are congested to accommodate the increasing fleet of bus services and pilgrim rush. Since the inception of the TUDA in 1986, the hill town is depending heavily on Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams for development since the former is mainly focusing on development in Tirupati at the foot of Tirumala hills.
According to sources, it is decided to include Tirumala in the master plan-2022 for a planned growth of the temple town in line with the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The master plan may focus on creating more number of parking bays for vehicles to address the traffic snarls, besides shifting of the bus stand away from the busy area.
Tirumala has been subjected to haphazard growth all these days for want of coordination between the TTD’s engineering wing and the TUDA. The TUDA’s master plan seeks to build 20 roads, each with a width of 100 ft, in line with the designing envisaged in the master plan and a four- lane Vikuntamala ring road in and around Tirupati city to create better connectivity for pilgrims going to the shrine atop the hills from Tirupati.
In first phase, TUDA officials proposed to widen the existing two major roads in the section of Chintalachenu- GuravaReddy Samadhula streets within the city. The draft plan also proposes to provide well connectivity to Naravaripalli, the native village of the CM while developing the roads connecting SathyaVedu, Puttur, Srikalahasthi.
And also, TUDA authorities requested Chittoor District collector PS Pradyumna for allotment of 921 acres of government lands for commercial use so as to improve its revenues.
