Visakhapatnam: The Governor offices of other states should take a cue from the Maharahstra Governor’s office which took steps for improving the well-being of tribal communities living in the scheduled areas by following the Fifth Schedule and implementing PESA and Forests Rights Act (FRA), said Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) Chairman and Prof R Radhakrishna.

He was speaking at a two-day brainstorming session on tribal development issues in Andhra Pradesh being organised by SC & ST Unit (Andhra Component), Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, Prof R Radhakrishna said while the PESA and FRA were considered to bring about significant positive change in the lives of tribals but a wide gap exists between the promises made and the performance on the ground.
