Nannapaneni consoles rape victim at GGH

Vijayawada: A 12-year old girl residing in the Children's Home at Buddhavaram near Gannavaram in Krishna district was allegedly gang raped by two youth. This incident took place on October 7 but came to light on Thursday.

According to police, the two youth took the girl into a secluded place where they raped her. When the case was registered in the police station on October 19, the incident came to light. The police took one of the suspects in the rape into custody and searching for another accused. The victim has been shifted to the GGH at Vijayawada for treatment by an NGO.

Meanwhile, the AP Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari went to the GGH in the city and consoled the victim who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. She enquired about her health condition.

She demanded that the government take stern action against the accused. It may be mentioned that the police have already taken one person into custody in connection with this case. She directed the police to take remaining accused into custody.

She said that she would bring the incident into the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and ask him to take stern action against the accused.
