Tirupati: Mahati auditorium here in pilgrim city has provided a visual retreat to classical dance lovers on Saturday with the scintillating performance of 369 classical dancers.

They performed in groups of 10, 15 and 20 in a day-long event called ‘Annamayya Pada Nrutyotsavam’ organised by Bharath Arts Academy, ABC Foundation and Lions Club of Hyderabad Arts and Culture.

The dancers performed in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam forms for the famous sankeertanas on Lord Venkateswara by saint poet Annamayya. The event was organised to enter into the Cultural Book of Records.

The performances received huge applause by the audience as they were spellbound with the talent and hard work of the dancers. The organisers said that their effort was aimed at safeguarding the culture and traditions for future generations.

They also felicitated 35 natya gurus in the event. Also, film director Sagar, Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Dr Vedantam Ramalinga Sastry and former Head of Department (Bharatanatyam) at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Dr K Devendra Pillai were presented with lifetime achievement awards. Dr KV Ramana Rao of ABC Foundation and Lalitha Rao of Bharath Arts Academy were the chief organisers of the event.
