Public should oppose wars: American Gandhi

Visakhapatnam: Everyone should put their effort to spread peace in the world by taking the Gandhian path, said American Gandhi alias Bernie Meyer who is on a world-tour to propagate the message of peace and non-violence.

As part of his trip to several countries, Bernie Meyer came to Visakhapatnam and participated in a press meet organised by Global Network organisation at the VJF Press Club on Sunday. Global Network Organisation is known for its stand against war, military bases and nuclear weapons.

Speaking to the media, he said if the tense situation between America and North Korea escalate triggering war, then it will be disastrous for the world. “Both the countries should restrain from using nuclear weapons. Humans should come forward to scrap the man-made nuclear weapons before taking the Gandian path of non-violence and truth coupled with peace,” he said adding that public should oppose wars.

Stressing that their aim is to convince the people all around world to take inspiration from Gandhian principles, he said and added that wars contribute to huge amount of pollution affecting environment.

Recalling that he was in India during 1995 and toured 80 countries so far, Bernie said he is scheduled to visit Gujarat on October 25. Global Trust Network President Ram Prabhu, vice-president Manoranjani, J Narayana, JV Prabhakar Rao and Prasad attended.
