Visakhapatnam: Students of Balavikas, Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar and children covering 20 government schools which were adopted by Sathya Sai Seva Organisation of Viskhapatnam district, chanted Vedic hymns for universal peace and harmony at the Vidya Mandir here on Sunday.

Rector of Andhra University K Gayathri Devi inaugurated the programme in the presence of S G Chalam, state president of Sri Sathya Sai Seva organisations, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State.

Speaking on the occasion, Gayatri Devi said that the rich Indian cultural heritage was in the safe hands of young children who would uphold it. She lauded the efforts of Balavikas in imparting human values to children through its education system which was launched by Bhagawan Sri Satya Sai Baba. By chanting Vedic hymns regularly, human values could be firmly inculcated among the students, she added.

In his address, Chalam said that Balavikas was the strong foundation on which the responsible future citizens of the country were gifted by Satya Sai Seva Organisation for spreading peace, love, non-violence and dharma. As part of Sahasra Veda alarchana,children chanted vedic hymns. Principal of Satya Sai Vidya Vihar A Kausalya and district educational doordinator J Surya Narayana and others were present on the occasion.
