Achanta: The devotees decorated Siva Lingam with 11 lakh rudrakshas to conduct rudraksha puja to Lord Siva at Kodelu in Achanta mandal on Saturday.

Vedic priest Gopavajhula Madhava Sharma brought 11 lakh rudrakshas from Varanasi and adorned the Siva Lingam with them. Interestingly, a monkey entered the tent and sat opposite Siva Lingam.

The puja was performed at Koderu village in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district in the early hours of Sunday. Devotees from various places of the state reached Koderu and offered prayers. The devotees took a holy dip in the River Vasista at Kodelu.

In all, 40 Vedic priests performed puja to Shiva Lingam amidst chanting of Vedic hymns. Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University Jyothish Department Professor Dr CVB Subrahmanyam delivered a speech on the occasion.

Spiritualist Acharya CVB Subrahmanyam said that everyone should come forward to save the earth. He expressed regret that some people have been cutting trees which release oxygen for the mankind. A homam was performed for rains on the occasion.
