Adoni: Representatives of various people’s organisations staged a demonstration during the ‘Praja Durbar’ programme here on Monday opposing the posting of a ‘corrupt’ Tahsildar Srinivasa Rao who has been transferred to Kouthalam. The BJP leaders and representatives of the ‘Dalit Hakkula Porata Samiti’ and ‘Mundadugu’ represented to the Joint Collector to suspend Rao.

Speaking to the media during the demonstration, district president of the Dalit Hakkula Porata Samiti M Prakash, BJP Town President Kunigiri Nagaraju, Mundugu district chief Desai Chandranna accused the Tahsildar, while working in Adoni earlier of ‘illegally’ transferring temple lands to private persons, besides issuing passbooks. The lands are in Hanavalu (survey no 14), Ganekal (survey no 196), Narayanapuram (survey no 61) and Dayyalagadda villages (survey no 45) all in Adoni mandal.

The leaders said that the transfer of temple lands by Rao had resulted in a loss of several crores of Rupees to the State exchequer and also to the temples. While demanding a judicial inquiry into the illegal land transfers by the Tahsildar, they wanted him to be placed under suspension. They said the issue would be taken to the notice of Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao.

Among those who took part in the demonstration were BJP Town general secretary Aduri Vijaykrishna, Secretary Jinde Saikumar, party leaders R Govindrao, Ravikumar, Datta, Manikanta, Brahma, Srikanth, Janardhan, Vanita, Swapna, Vijayalakshmi and Bharati.
