Tirupati: The death of an ante-natal baby in Government Maternity Hospital, led to protests by the relatives of the pregnant woman here on Saturday.

Manohar of Jeevakona area in the city admitted his wife Neelima (30) in the hospital on Thursday. He claimed that on admission doctors examined his wife and said the baby condition was good.

As she did not get labour pains, doctors waited for normal delivery. On Saturday, she informed the doctors that she was getting pains. After getting scanning reports, doctors have found that the baby was dead. On hearing this, the family members alleged that it was due to the negligence of doctors. Their argument was that doctors maintained that the baby was alright and suddenly changed the tone.

They held a protest in front of the hospital. However, hospital RMO Dr Vidyavathi told The Hans India, that there was no full growth of the baby as only 37 weeks were completed. They have explained the position to police and the family members. There was no negligence on the part of doctors, she maintained.
