The Children’s Day celebrations were conducted in various parts of West Godavari on Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary on Tuesday. In Eluru, the celebrations were held at IADP Hall.

Eluru: The Children’s Day celebrations were conducted in various parts of West Godavari on Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary on Tuesday. In Eluru, the celebrations were held at IADP Hall.

Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu), chief guest at the programme, has said that the people’s safety and security is the priority subject to the State Government and accordingly it has been striving.

The Government also committed for the welfare of the children and introduced mid-day meal programme to the students to give them nutritious food. He called up on the parents to admit their children in Government schools as all facilities are provided at the school.

He suggested parents to teach their children about the National leaders’ biography to inculcate good habits and social awareness among the children. Chacha Nehru loved children a lot and the children should follow the footsteps of Nehru, he said.

District Collector K Bhaskar said that the parents should concentrate on the development of their children and suggested the students should concentrate on sports also besides the education. He also suggested to conduct various sports in village, mandal and district level in Government schools.

Every quarter of the year, the teachers should conduct the competitions in sports, elocution, essay writing and painting for the students and give away the prizes to the winners. The Collector released the “mathematics songs” book prepared by Education department.

City Mayor Sheikh Noorjahan advised the parents to teach the students good habits for their personality development. District Educational Officer RS Ganga Bhavani and others spoke on the occasion.

The Collector unveiled a poster on sexual harassment and exploitations. The poster was prepared by District Forum for Child rights and District Child Production unit. Later the dignitaries distributed prizes to the students who won in the khokho, essay writing, running race and other events.

Earlier MP Babu and Collector K Bhaskar and participants observed two minute silence to pay tributes to the deceased who died in the boat capsize at river Krishna Pavitra Sangamam at Ibrahimpatnam.

Eluru Municipal Cooption member SMR Pedababu, Former Deputy Mayor Chode Venkataratnam, corporator Kirankumar, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Project Officer Dr K Brahmamnanda Reddy, Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Chairman Jayyavarap[u Sriramamurthy and others participated in the programme.

The Lions Club of Peravali organised the Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth Anniversary as Children’s day at Rapaka Upper Primary School on Tuesday. The participants gave away the prizes to the winning students. Lions Club members Ranga VenkateswaraRao, Sevacoordinator distributed sports kits to the students. Village Sarpanch B RatnaManikyam, Krishna Rao, teachers and lions members participated.
