Eluru: Indian Federation of Trade Union (IFTU) district leaders K Polari and U Venkateswara Rao on Thursday said that the IFTU would conduct Chalo Assembly programme on Friday, demanding that the government protect the jute sector and solve the problems of jute farmers and workers.

Addressing gate meetings at Eluru and Kothuru jute mills, the leaders said that the State and Central governments had failed to protect the jute sector which was providing employment to lakhs of workers and farmers in the country.
