Commercial and Industry Security Cooperation (CISCO) has started a CISCO Networking Academy at SRKR Engineering College in Bhimavaram on Thursday. A workshop on ‘Women Rock in IT’ was conducted on the college premises to mark the occasion.

Bhimavaram: Commercial and Industry Security Cooperation (CISCO) has started a CISCO Networking Academy at SRKR Engineering College in Bhimavaram on Thursday. A workshop on ‘Women Rock in IT’ was conducted on the college premises to mark the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, several women speakers emphasised the need for the increase of a number of women in Information Technology sector. They opined that if the women from their student stage establish a clear vision, they definitely will gain self-confidence.

Founder of Make the Wonderful Society and Abdul Kalam Award winner, Meghana, said that positive thoughts could help women climb high peaks in the society. Another IT expert and founder of Blockbuster, a Software company, Thota Anuradha said that the IT organisations should provide special facilities to women to encourage them to enter into the IT sector.

CISCO Academy Support Centre Andhra Pradesh in-charge T Rambabu said that CISCO with headquarters at Bhubaneswar was establishing its academies in the engineering colleges with good educational standards. He said that the trained students in the online courses of the academy would be registered in Talent Bridge which will give them plenty of opportunities globally.

College Technology Centre Head Dr N Gopalakrishna Murthy presided over the workshop. Earlier, the college director, Sagi Vithal Raju inaugurated the CISCO Networking Academy. Dr I Hemaltha, Dr Shanti, Dr Bhavani, Dr Sowmya, Dr Suresh Babu and others addressed the meeting. Around 400 women engineering students of the first-year batch attended the meeting.
