Visakhapatnam: The government announced that a detailed project report (DPR) to develop the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour would be prepared soon. After a series of meetings on the development of the fishing harbour, Ministers, MP, MLAs and officials have decided to take up the project at a cost of Rs 40 crore.

A meeting on the fishing harbour development chaired by Minister for Fisheries Adinarayana Reddy was held here on Friday. Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao, MP K Haribabu, MLA (West) V Ganesh Kumar, MLA (Gajuwaka) Palla Srinivasa Rao, Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust and other officials were present.

During the meeting, Chairman of VPT MT Krishna Babu informed that on behalf of Central government, the VPT would share Rs 20 crore for the project and asked the state government to sanction another Rs 20 crore.

The Ministers gave their nod to the proposal and said that they would discuss with the Chief Minister in this regard. However, both the Ministers directed the officials to prepare a DPR to take up the project.
