Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will implement a new slot system for hassle-free darshan for Sarva Darshanam (SD) devotees at Srivari temple in Tirumala. The objective of the system is to provide darshan to devotees in a fixed time on par with other slots like Rs 300 tokens and Divya Darshan devotees.

Presently, the TTD officials are allowing Sarva Darshanam devotees from Vaikuntam Complex-2 compartments. The devotees must wait at least 10 to 12 hours for having a darshan and this waiting time would even stretch to 24 to 30 hours during festivals and other auspicious days.

In this context, the officials are seriously chalking out a plan to reduce the waiting time of Sarva Darshanam devotees. TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal instructed the officials to introduce slot token system for SD devotees.

On the instructions of the EO, the engineering department personnel have taken up the construction of 150 slot token issue counters in Tirumala, Alipiri and Srivari Mettu pathways.

Through this slot system, the TTD will issue limited slot tokens to SD devotees on submission of Aadhaar card. Under the new slot system, once the token is issued to SD devotees, they can have a darshan within two to three hours from the time of entering the queue at Vaikuntam Complex-2. The TTD officials will issue two Rs 20 and two Rs 50 laddu tokens to SD devotees through the slot system.

Currently, the TTD is issuing around 20,000 tokens for Divya Darshan devotees, who come by foot. Another 15,000 tokens of Rs 300 are issued through online mode across the country regularly. According to TTD officials, this new slot system will be implemented on trial basis from December second week.

For success of slot system, the officials are making extensive arrangements. JEO Srinvasa Raju inspected the SD token counters’ construction works and instructed the officials to complete them within a stipulated time.

In Tirumala alone, the TTD is constructing 21 counters for issuing tokens to SD devotees at various places. In view of this, the officials are appealing to devotees to carry Aadhaar card with them to get SD tokens at counters and to avoid duplication and irregularities.
