The long pending bifurcation of common High Court at Hyderabad for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is set to be resolved by May next as the union government approved for the division of Courts.

The new high court will be established temporarily at Medha Towers near Gannavaram airport at Vijayawada. The permanent high court at Justice City will be established in Amaravati.

As per the procedure, the centre will send a proposal to the Union law ministry, which forwards it to the Union Cabinet. After its approval, the President will issue a circular notifying the principal seat of the new HC and the appointment of judges.

According to an English daily, for effecting a transfer of judges, the approval of the Supreme Court Collegium is needed before Presidential nod. The plan is for AP's HC to start functioning in the next judicial year, which begins on June 1, 2018. Before that, government will have to complete the official procedure by May end.
