Vijayawada: AP Minister Kamineni Srinivas faced a bitter experience when the police personnel stopped his convoy on Karakatta Road at Vundavalli here in the city on Tuesday. The police disallowed the Minister to take the road citing security issues.

They asked Kamineni to take another route to reach Assembly. Due to the high drama, the vehicles including several other MLAs were also stranded on the road leading to traffic jams over half-an-hour. The police even imposed restrictions on general public who were taking the route.

Following the incident, Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao expressed his displeasure over the cops' high drama. He sought explanation from the police over the incident. Subsequently, Guntur Rural SP Venkata Appala Naidu had to give explanation to the Speaker. Kodela asked the policemen that such incidents don't reoccur in the future.

Even Srikakulam's Palasa MLA Gouthu Shyam Sundar too faced similar situation on his way to the Assembly last year at Karakatta Road. The MLA also staged a sit-in on the road protesting the policemen.
