Heavy security at Secretariat causes hardships to people

Amaravati: Common people suffered a lot due to imposition of too much security restrictions at CRDA villages, particularly the villages located between Chief Minister's residence at Undavalli and Assembly at Velagapudion Tuesday.

Even Minister for Health and Medical education Kamineni Srinivas and other law makers faced problems with the security restrictions. At one point of time, the Assembly Speaker KodelaSivaprasada Rao warned police that he will take serious action if law makers were stopped while they were coming to Assembly.

The police imposed restrictions as they expected trouble due to MRPS protest at Assembly. The police literally screened each and every person who were going on the way and demanded to show Aadhaar card as residence proof to allow them to go to their villages on vehicles.

Guntur Rural Superintendent of Police Ch Venkata Appala Naidu stated that the police officials were directed to check the identity cards in order to prevent unforeseen incidents. It was observed that the police checked more intensely on Tuesday than on Monday.

It may be noted that the opposition parties and others staged protest and called for `Chalo Assembly’ on Monday, demanding Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. On Monday, the police simply arrested the leaders and cadre in Vijayawada city itself and not allowed them to cross River Krishna to reach Assembly.

In contrast, the police were unable to identify the protesters who had announced to protest on Tuesday, and checked each and every person.
