Atmakur: Srisailam legislator Budda Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday said that Roads and Buildings Minister Ch Ayyannapathrudu responded favourably in the Legislative Assembly on his demand for widening the road linking Amaravati with Rayalaseema by at least for a distance of 60 km.

The MLA raised the issue of prolonged duration of reaching Amaravati, road accidents taking place on the ghat road in Nallamala forest region because of the narrow road and took it to the notice of the Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao.

Later, disclosing this to media here over phone from Vijayawada, the MLA said that he had spoken about it to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The delay in converting the road to a double road is getting delayed as it comes under the purview of the Forest department.

He said that casualties because of road accidents on the Atmakur-Dornala road were high. The volume of road traffic increased during the past four years, the MLA hastened to add.
