Eluru: West Godavari Zilla Parishad Chairman Mullapudi Bapiraju said that all political parties should fight united against the Centre over the Polavaram Irrigation Project.
Addressing a media conference at ZP Guest House here on Friday, the ZP Chairman said that Polavaram project was the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh state and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was striving hard to complete it in time. However, he regretted that due to the Centre’s attitude, the state had to face problems. He said that even the project declared National Project, the BJP Government at the Centre had started its queries on it. “Polavaram project is a sentiment. It is the lifeline of the State. The Centre has earlier assured of filling up the loss following the change of contractor of the project. However, now it has started queries and directed to stop the project”, he added.
He said that Chandrababu Naidu was the only leader who was capable of completing Polavaram project.
He alleged that former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar had distorted the Chief Minister’s address in the Assembly. He said that it was not good for the state to deviate from this problem. “We will show our strength. If necessary we will go to Delhi and take up agitation on the streets of Delhi,” he stated. He suggested BJP State leaders to discuss the matter with the Centre to complete the Polavaram project as per schedule.
