Vijayawada: In a sudden outburst of anger, members of BC communities staged demonstrations across the State resenting the AP State government's move to provide five per cent reservation to Kapus after according them BC status.

The demonstrators staged protests at the Collectorate in Kakinada and set fire to effigies of the State government. Tension prevailed for some time when they burnt the used tyres which kept burning emitting thick black smoke.

Even though the police tried to stop them from intensifying agitation, the demonstrators managed to hoodwink the police and set fire to government in effigy. They also blocked the roads and stopped RTC buses. Similarly, the leaders of BC associations staged protests in Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Eluru, Tanuku and several parts of the State.

Chittoor District BC Joint action committee has staged dharna against the move to provide reservations to Kapus. As part of this agitation, the protesters burnt an effigy of the State government near Ambedkar statue in front of the RTC bus stand.

On the occasion JAC president Anna Ramchandra Yadav criticised the government for spoiling the Constitutional rights of BCs. JAC leader Sakam Prabhakar, Ashok Samrat Yadav, Yanadaiah and others were present.

Activists from AP BC Joint Action Committee (JAC) organised protests at VRC Centre and Ambedkar centres in Nellore. They staged protests and demanded resignation of BC ministers from the cabinet.

They alleged that the State government had planned to sabotage interests of the BCs with the decision. Association legal advisor GV Narasaiah, leader V Srinivasulu, BC Employees Association leader A Srinivasulu, BC student union leader Murali and others participated.

Opposing the government’s move to include Kapus in BC (F), the BC Federation started agitation in Visakhapatnam. The BC leaders burnt effigies of the TDP government and said they were chalking out plans for a series of agitations including boycotting schools and colleges.

The leaders of BCs staged protest at Ambedkar statue near RTC Bus stand in Tirupati. BC associations JAC leader Anna Ramachandraiah also took part in the protest.
