Tirupati: Girijana Praja Samakhya (GPS) has demanded the State government to immediately withdraw the decision to include Boya community in the list of Schedule Tribes. GPS founder president Vadithya Sankar Naik staged a protest in Tirupati on Saturday.

He alleged that the government has not implemented any promises made to Girijancommunity in 2014. “No minister was accommodated in the State Cabinet from STs. On the other hand, they want to include Boya community in STs who were developed socially, educationally and financially. It is nothing but vote bank politics,” he said.

If the government did not withdraw its decision, the Girijan community will teach the ruling TDP a fitting lesson in 2019 elections, he warned.

Tirupati West police arrested the protesters and released them later. GPS leaders B Nagu Naik, E Naga Rani, B Kamanna Naik, M Seenu Naik and R Sunil took part in the protest.
