‘Amaravati Nrithyotsav 2017’- a two-day dance festival was organised by Nataraj Music and Dance Academy, Visakhapatnam at Siddhartha auditorium on Saturday and Sunday.

Vijayawada: ‘Amaravati Nrithyotsav 2017’- a two-day dance festival was organised by Nataraj Music and Dance Academy, Visakhapatnam at Siddhartha auditorium on Saturday and Sunday. For this event the artistes came from different parts to exhibit their talent in the dance forms like Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Manipuri, Kathak, Odissi and also the traditional folk dance forms of different States during the festival.

The festival was inaugurated with a Kathak performance presented by the artistes of ‘Nirantara Dance’ of Bangalore led by Somasekhara group. The artistes commenced with the item ‘Om Gam Ganapathi’ and another item in Teen Tal 16 beets. With their excellent fast foot work and expressions the artistes impressed the audience.

Geetha Narayan from Visakhapatnam showcased Kuchipudi dance items in Ragamalika. She also presented the Annamacharya composition ‘Chudaramma Satulara’ and the ‘Jayadev astapadi.’ With rich experience Geetha acclaimed appreciations from the dance lovers.

Manipuri dance is noted for ‘Radha Krishna tatvam.’ Most of the Manipuri items are choreographed basing on the Radha Krishna tatvam. The items like Namini Radha, Mamdila Narthan and Mridanga vadan were presented by the famous Manipuri dancer Darshan Jhuveri with her team. The artistes presented colourful item in Manipuri dance form and received applause from the gathering present in the auditorium.

Dr Cherukuri Sridhar, Commissioner APCRDA, Income Tax Additional Commissioners CV Pavan Kumar and S Ravi Sankar, Ilapuram Raja, Vikram Kumar and Ilapuram Venkaiah were present in the meeting. The lifetime achievement award was given to Darshan Jhuveri.
