Visakhapatnam: RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has made rapid strides by achieving significant growth in production and turnover during April-November in the current fiscal.

The plant registered a growth of 12 per cent in hot metal, 14 per cent growth in liquid steel and 15 per cent growth in saleable steel in the first eight months in the present fiscal.

The significant growth was also registered from the finishing mills of expansion, including wire rod mill – 2, special bar mill and structural mill during the same period and turn over registered with a growth of 32 per cent.

Chairman cum Managing Director of RINL P Madhusudan here on Wednesday said that the growth clearly reflects the company’s march towards ramping up of capacity during the current year and added that various measures are being taken by the Ministry of Steel and internal initiatives led to performance improvement.

He congratulated the RINL collective for the achievements. The RINL is targeting higher levels of production in December 2017 and is poised to achieve them as alternate arrangements are being made to ensure supply of iron ore.

Meanwhile, the East Coast authorities said that the repair works on the KK Line were almost completed and a trail run is expected to be conducted on December 10.

The trial run will continue for about four to five days and once the safety wing of the railways certified, the East Coast Railway will restore the normalcy to transport iron ore to the RINL mostly from December 16, the ECoR authorities said.

Home guard Raising Day
The 55th Home Guard Raising Day was celebrated at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Director (Personnel0 of RINL KC Das commended the efforts of Home Guards in handling emergency situations, crisis and also their sincere efforts in maintaining security in the township. Executive Director RP Srivastav, General Manager PK Mohapatra and DGM R Srinivas were present on the occasion.
