The members of Grater Visakhapatnam Municipal Contractors Association (GVMCA) on Thursday announced that they would stop ongoing development works from December 18 at all the wards under GVMC limits.
Visakhapatnam: The members of Grater Visakhapatnam Municipal Contractors Association (GVMCA) on Thursday announced that they would stop ongoing development works from December 18 at all the wards under GVMC limits.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, general secretary of Contractors Association Gompa Chandra Mouli said that the association taken this decision at the general body meeting in protest against the GVMC for not clearing pending bills.
Over 300 development works, including laying of roads and drain works, are going on and with the strike the works would be stopped, he said. President T Veera Reddy said that 350 contractors joined the strike, while 5,000 workers would be deprived of work. Association convener R Venkata Rao and vice-president R Sadhu Rao, Vara Prasad and Narasinga Rao were present.
