Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams is all set to experiment Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) token system from December 18 to 23. On the lines of Rs 300 and footpath pilgrims token system, TTD has developed this new time slot tokens for the convenience of common devotees, which will reduce waiting time.

Currently, TTD has been issuing Rs 300 and footpath Diviya Darshan tokens for 20,000 pilgrims. In addition, TTD will be issuing 30,000 tokens under the new SSD token system with an intention to provide hassle-free darshan for ordinary pilgrims.
For last two months, TTD officials have been chalking out the new SSD slot token system. Primarily, TTD higher officials have discussed with TCS officials on software and hardware infrastructure for setting up SSD token issuing counters at Tirumala and Tirupati.
One month ago, TTD engineering department has been working on setting up 117 counters at various places at Tirumala, Alipiri footpath way and Srivari Mettu footpath way.
TTD will display time slots, token numbers and darshan reporting time on digital signboards at these counters. For the introduction of the new time slotted token system, TTD has made elaborate arrangements. Almost all the amenities have been completed by the TTD officials two days ago.
TTD have deputed 80 senior officers, 300 employees, 75 Trilok (staff of private agency) and 50 Bank of Baroda employees to manage the SSD counters located at Tirumala. The SSD token counters will work round-the-clock in three shifts. First shift will function from 6 am to 2 pm, second from 2 pm to 10 pm while the final shift from 10 pm till 6 am. In this connection, Devesthanam IT department and IT consultancy TCS have jointly provided special training to the duty staff.
Based on the feedback, TTD will be take a decision on the roll out of the new token system. If need be, the temple authorities will remodel the programme to meet the end result. If all goes well the new SSD time slot system will be made a permanent feature from March 2018 onwards, according to sources.
For getting the SSD tokens, Aadhaar card presentation is mandatory, otherwise pilgrims have to head for darshan from Vaikuntam complex-2.
In the meanwhile, EO Anil Kumar Singhal and JEO Tirumala K Srinivasa Raju have inspected the SSD tokens issuing counters at Tirumala on Saturday. "After reviewing the experiment, TTD will take decision to implement this revolutionary scheme in February or March next in a full-fledged manner," said Anil Kumar Singhal.
