10 held for cricket betting in Kadapa

Ten persons were arrested in separate incidents in Khaleelpet and Saipet areas in the town on Sunday on charges of betting. Police recovered Rs 5.5 lakh cash, seven mobile phones, a portable tv set from their possession.

The accused were identified as S Srinatha Raju, Sheik Safi, Sheik Gafar, Sheik Mahabub Basha, Sheik Akbarvali , Sheik Jameel, Mahammad Soyal, Sheik Anwar Basha, Paton Bashir khan and Sk Anwar Basha of Kadapa town.
Kadapa town DSP Sk Masum Basha told the media persons here Sunday that accused were indulging in the crime during recent one-day matches between Sri Lanka and India. He said that following a tip-off, Kadapa I Town SI Vijayabaskar Reddy carried out raids and arrested the accused.
