The 128th birth anniversary of Sadhu Subramanyam Shastri, who unravelled the glorious past of the Srivari Temple by translating the rock and copper inscriptions of Srivari Temple at Tirumala, was grandly celebrated on Sunday.

Tirupati: The 128th birth anniversary of Sadhu Subramanyam Shastri, who unravelled the glorious past of the Srivari Temple by translating the rock and copper inscriptions of Srivari Temple at Tirumala, was grandly celebrated on Sunday.

Tirupati JEO Pola Bhaskar and other senior TTD officials offered floral tributes and garlanded the bronze statue of Sadhu Subramanyam Shastri located in front of the SVETA (Sri Venkateswara Employees Training Academy) Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhaskar said that Subramanyam Shastri who worked as Peishkar at Srivari Temple had not only translated the inscriptions at the temple but also successfully unravelled Annamayya sankeertans from 167 copper plaques of the saint poet.

The JEO also presented Srivari Prasadam to Sadhu's daughter Girija Devi and also grand-son C S Murthy who is Principal Civil judge at Kadapa. TTD SVETA Director Chenchu Lakshmi, HDPP Secretary Ramakrishna Reddy, Superintendent Muni Kumar and other officials participated.
