He was addressing North Coastal Congress meeting at Port Kalavani stadium here on Tuesday. The meeting was conducted by Vizag city Congress committee to mark the 85th birth anniversary of senior Congress leader Dronamraju Satyannarayana.

The PCC chief addressing the gathering said that the results of Gujarat elections herald a resurgence of the party and auger well for the party’s prospects in all the states in the country.

“People are pinning their hopes on Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and his charisma. Taking this achievement in Gujarat as an inspiration, all the party leader and cadre should work for the party’s success in 2019 elections,” he said.

Raghuveera Reddy said that the party leadership had taken a decision to conduct a three-day march from Rajamahendravaram to Dowleswaram on January 7 to protest the delay in completion of Polavaram project.

Criticising the TDP government for increasing the cost of project from Rs 16,000 crores to 58,000 crores, the PCC chief reiterated the demand that the state and Union governments complete the project in 2018.

He declared that the party would relentlessly exert pressure on the Central government for grant of Special Category Status to the state.

Congress senior leader and former chairman of TTD Kanumuri Bapiraju while referring to group rivalry between former minister P Balaraju and former MLA Dronamraju Srinivas, urged the party a leaders to put an end to internal differences and work unitedly for the revival of the party.

Former Union minister Killi Kruparani, former minister Balaraju, Kondru Murali, and Congress cadre from Visakhapatnam, Agency and Vizianagaram took part in the meet.
