Mobile Food Quality Testing Vehicle, a first of its kind in the state, was launched here on Wednesday. The Divis Laboratories procured the vehicle at a cost of Rs 45 lakh and handed over it to the government to test the midday meal being served to the students studying in government schools.

The Divis Laboratories procured the vehicle at a cost of Rs 45 lakh and handed over it to the government to test the midday meal being served to the students studying in government schools.

Inaugurating the vehicle, Collector Pravin Kumar said the Akshaya Patra Foundation has been serving midday meal to 23,500 students in the district. With the help of the Divis Laboratories gesture, the food being served to students would be checked for quality.

The Mobile Food Quality Testing Vehicle would also check the quality of the raw material and would give a grading on each item. The vehicle also vets cooked food and issue quality certificate, the Collector added.

The Collector hailed the Divis Laboratories CSR activities on the occasion. While handing over the vehicle to collector, Managing Director of Divis Laboratories Madhusudan Rao said that the mobile food lab would also check the quality of food in Nellore, Vijayawada and Kakinada, where the Akshaya Patra Foundation serving the midday meal to the government school students in the cities.

Deputy General Manager of Divis Laboratories Y Koteswara Rao, Head, CSR activities of Divis Laboratories D Suresh Kumar and The Akshaya Patra Foundation chief Niskinchana Bhakta Dasa were present.
