Srikakulam: The poor families in BC, SC, ST and Minorities, who are having white ration cards and girls of marriageable age, would get financial aid under Chandranna Pelli Kanuka scheme from Ugadi, disclosed Minister for Transport K Atchannaidu.
He attended Janmabhoomi-Maa Vuru programme at Ravivalasa in Tekkali mandal on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the government is committed to the welfare of the poor and as part of it, the government has decided to provide Rs 30,000 for BCs, RS 40,000 for SC and STs and Rs 50,000 for Minorities under Chandranna Pelli Kanuka scheme.
Kerosene and sugar, along with one kg red gram would be supplied through fair price shops for Rs 40 from next month, the minister added. On the occasion, the minister distributed scholarships to students, Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka to white ration card holders. Local TDP leaders and officials attended the programme. Minister for energy K Kala Venkata Rao participated in the Janmabhoomi-Maavuru programme at T Duggivalasa village in G Sigadam mandal.
