Chandrababu pitches for world-class Expressway

During a review meeting with the CRDA officials on Wednesday, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to begin works with proper land acquisition procedures.
The Expressway passes through Kurnool, Kadapa, Prakasam and Guntur districts. Naidu suggested that industrial zones and townships can be created along Outer Ring Road, Inner Ring Road and Amaravati-Anantapur Expressway.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare two or three plans for each project of these and maintained that the industrial zones and townships should have access to sufficient water and government lands. “This Expressway must be of world-class and should be able to serve logistically as an industrial corridor,” he said at the meeting.
Inner Ring Road: The phase-1 of the development of Inner Ring Road stretches along the length of 97.5 km, and costs Rs 7,624 crore. Four villages, Harishchandrapuram, Vaikuntapuram, Vaddamanu and Peddaparimi have come forward to hand over land for development, officials informed.
Naidu suggested the officials to carry out the project in a hybrid model, which will develop the land pooled from villages, as well as the Inner Ring Road project. Outer Ring Road: The Chief Minister was informed that the ORR project has been approved by NHAI, along with the suggestions given by him.
It will be 189 km long and the entire project will cost Rs 17,761 crore. The ORR will be a six-lane road with a land width of 150 m and requires a total of 3,404 hectares of land. It will pass through 87 villages in the 2 districts of Krishna and Guntur and will consist of intersections with 13 National Highways and State Highways.
He said, “We should make Amaravati the City of Iconic Bridges,” and instructed the officials to study the best practices from all over the world, to learn the best way of planning and developing bridges over the river Krishna.”
Officials also reported that all the finishing works of Kanakadurga Flyover will be completed by March 31, 2018. Secretary (Transport, R&B) Anil Chandra Punetha, Principal Secretary Ajay Jain, MA&UD Minister P. Narayana, CMD of Amaravati Development Corporation Lakshmi Parthasarathy and CRDA Commissioner Sreedhar Cherukuri were present in the meeting.
