Waltair division DRM conducts surprise checks in trains
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mukul Saran Mathur interacted with passengers in trains and at railway stations on Monday to have a first-hand feedback on the amenities and facilities being provided by the Waltair Railway Division.

In a press release here on Tuesday, the DRM said that he travelled in Secunderabad to Bhubaneshwar (Visakha Express) and in Howrah-Vasco (Amaravati Express) along with Senior DCM G Suneel Kumar.
During his inspection, the DRM told the passengers that it would be a continuous process. The needs and demands of the railway customers, which were identified would be suitably addressed, he added. He inspected the conditions in the compartments, catering, pantry car and interacted with the passengers in all the classes. DRM Mathur also carried out intensive checks against ticketless travel in the trains.
A total number of 106 ticketless travellers were booked and un-booked luggage were detected and an amount of Rs 50,700 was collected through fares and imposing penalties on them. Members of ticket checking staff and Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Waltair Division participated in the inspections.
The DRM said that the passengers were counselled and advised not to travel without purchasing tickets. More such intensive checks would be carried out throughout the division to check ticketless travel.
He said that 38 inspections were conducted from January 7 to 13 during which 5,624 cases of ticketless travel were registered. A penalty worth Rs 18,92,855 on un-booked luggage was collected, the DRM added.
