AISECT joins State govt for two major skill development initiatives
AISECT, a leader in skill development, joined hands with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) for imparting skill development training to 120 unemployed Scheduled Caste (SC) youth in Nandyal, Guntur and Chittoor.
Vijayawada: AISECT, a leader in skill development, joined hands with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) for imparting skill development training to 120 unemployed Scheduled Caste (SC) youth in Nandyal, Guntur and Chittoor.
Along with this, the organisation will help in implementing the recommendations of ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ (RPL) by affiliating 500 candidates in the districts of Nellore, Visakhapatnam, Chittoor, Guntur and East Godavari district.
According to data from Census 2011, Andhra Pradesh has a 17.1 per cent SC population, much higher than the national average of 7.4 per cent. This calls for special attention towards uplifting their status vis-à-vis general masses.
The Placement-Linked Skill Development Programme for SC Youth is a state-run scheme, wherein the training will be entirely free of cost for the candidates. As per the current mandate, AISECT is to train 30 candidates as medical youth representatives and 30 candidates as general duty assistants in Nandyal in Kurnool district, 30 candidates as retail associates in Chittoor and 30 candidates as retail associates in Guntur.
The training, scheduled to start on January 20, aims to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the backward castes by providing them access to gainful skilled wage employment opportunities; through trainings in relevant sectors.
The second partnership between AISECT and APSSDC comes in line with implementing recommendations of ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’. An ambitious scheme by the Central government, RPL will help people to move from non-formal market to organised market through assessment of the concerned person’s industrial expertise.
Under this agreement, AISECT has been selected as the Project Implementation Agency (PIA) for evaluating 200 skilled sewing machine operators (Level 4) in Nellore and Visakhapatnam districts, 100 CCTV installation technicians (Level 4) in Chittoor and 200 jewellry retail Sales associates (Level 4) in Guntur and East Godavari districts.
Scheduled to start from January 20, all the candidates will undergo a 12-hour training and assessment, wherein their acquired skills will be tested; post clearance of which, they will be eligible for formal skills certificate and reward money from APSSDC.
Siddharth Chaturvedi, director of AISECT, said, “As a separate state Andhra Pradesh is expected to reach 91 per cent literacy in 2021. Therefore, it becomes important to tap on the state’s human resource potential.
In line with today’s job scenario, it is imperative that we supplement our educated workforce with skills, so that they are able to attain sustainable jobs for themselves and a livelihood for their families. Initiatives such as these are a welcome step in the favourable direction.”
