Rajamahendravaram: After celebrating the Sankranti festival for three days in their native places, hundreds of families were ready to get back to their places. All the bus stations and railway stations in the district were crowded with passengers and the RTC made special arrangements to meet the rush.

According to RTC Regional Manager C Ravi Kumar, the Corporation is running as many as 40 special services regularly from Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Amalapuram, Tuni, Eleswaram, Ravulapalem, Ramachandrapuram, Razole and Gokavaram depots to meet the rush of passengers.

It is also collecting 50 per cent extra fare for special buses as the seats in regular buses were fully occupied. In addition to this, as many as 50 additional buses also operated to Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Moreover, the passenger rush was decreased when compared with last year as many are using their own vehicles along with private services. Meanwhile, arrangements were made to operate many number of buses up to Janaury 20 from the district to avoid inconvenience to passengers.

The private bus operators are collecting Rs 2,000 on each ticket to Hyderabad from Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada and Amalapuram. The regional manager appealed to passengers to travel in RTC buses for a safe and convenient travel.
