Nellore: A team led by Prashant Kishor would be giving a jolt to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders in the district which reportedly recommended change of candidates in various constituencies based on the feedback on their performance. Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Kovur MLA N Prasanna Kumar Reddy, rural MLA K Sridhar Reddy, and others are in the list on whom they kept an eye.

  • MLAs performance will be assessed based on the response from people during Jagan’s yatra

“Recently, the party which faced severe criticism from the population of some constituencies on performance of the candidates had decided to rope in new candidates and they proposed huge changes in the light of approaching elections. Consequently, YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy's political affairs adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has been appointed as in-charge of the district for taking timely decisions to face the polls,” said a leader maintaining anonymity.

Basically, the appointment has been made after severe criticism about the performance of MP M Rajamohan Reddy, who was allegedly failing to resolve even small issues in the district which were being taken to the notice of the party chief. Feedback to the PK team about MP also was negative which made the party to rethink his candidature for next elections and they were also planning to field some strong candidates to be in the fray in the next elections.

Until then, Sajjala would act as a liaison for taking necessary decisions in the district. A senior TD leader from Nellore rural constituency, who has been working there for some time, would be preferred as MP candidate if he joins the YSRCP in case Mekapati is not considered, according to sources. Otherwise, the party has second thought of giving chance to another family member of Mekapati.

Further, N Prasanna Kumar Reddy, who was legislator from Kovur, would possibly be asked to shift to Venkatagiri as his father Nallapureddy Srinivasulu Reddy was having hold in the constituency even though ZP Chairman B Raghavendra Reddy is concentrating there. Party sources said Nellore Rural MLA K Sridhar Reddy has been focusing on his constituency, but he failed to obtain good rank when PK Team had collected information on his performance.

Party sources also observed that he had organised a 105-day Praja-bata for meeting the voters of his constituency. Now, Praja Sankalpa Yatra has been finalised for Nellore district that begins from January 23 and the team led by Prashant Kishor is directly monitoring the activities. Even, the team wants to collect feedback about local legislators based on the response from people during Jaganmohan Reddy’s padayatra.

Majority leaders are of opinion that the yatra would be an acid test for performance of the local leaders that decides their destiny as there would be close monitoring on the activities by the third eye.
