Rajamahendravaram: Telugu Nadu Trade Union Congress (TNTUC) district president Nakka Chittibabu has underlined the need to enhance skills to improve employment opportunities and to increase their income.

Distributing tool kits to workers here on Sunday, who completed training in National Academy of Construction (NAC), he called upon the working community to avail the welfare schemes being implemented by the TDP government.

To infuse confidence among workers, the TDP-led government has been implementing Chandranna Bhima Scheme, he added. Chittibabu said the government would pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of worker if he dies in accident.

He asked the working community to support Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is striving for their wellbeing. Third circle labour officer G Uday Bhaskar said as many as 289 workers participated in the 15-day training out of 859 workers and an amount of Rs 200 per day was given as stipend along with providing free boarding and lodging.

Training was imparted in electrical, plumbing and masonry and tool kits worth Rs 2,500 were distributed to the workers. TNTUC members were present.
