Kakinada: Deputy director, defence, M Bala Lalitha advised students to write down everything they learn, which would help them immensely in their studies. She participated as the chief guest in an awareness programme on ‘A Role Model for Youth’ at a private school in Peddapuram on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bala Lalitha said preparing notes after every session in class was one of the secrets behind her cracking civil services. She further said that even though she was a differently-abled person, she never though inferior to normal boys and girls and added that disabilities are for the body only and not for the mind.

Stating that she had set a goal of becoming an IAS officer in childhood itself, she said she wrote the civil services examination with her ‘student’ (who she taught civil service syllabus) Gopala Krishna and secured 167th rank in civils while Gopala Krishna secured all India 3rd rank. She urged the students to prepare notes for every subject and make sincere efforts to achieve their goals.

School director Vijaya Prakash, principal Murthy, vice-Principal Neera Prasad and others participated. Earlier, the school students performed traditional dance forms welcoming Bala Latha. Later, she presented appreciation certificates and medals to the students.
