A memorandum of understanding was signed between Railways and HPCL-VR on Tuesday in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur, General Manager (HR), HPCL-VR Narisetty Raja Tao, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager G Suneel Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer (headquarters) David Ralf and Chief Manager (PR) HPCL-VR US Sharma.

Visakhapatnam railway station is the cleanest station in Indian Railways among A- 1 category, making it smart station. Shouldering the social responsibility, HPCL, Visakh Refinery, proposed to make Visakhaptnam railway station more environment friendly station and extended cooperation to provide refreshing longue, with the objective to construct hygienic, modern, state-of-the- art refreshing lounge where passengers can refresh themselves with various facilities, including toilets, shower, baby feeding rooms with an estimated cost of Rs 49.5 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, DRM Mathur appreciated the efforts made by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Visakhapatnam Refinery, for taking initiative to provide funds under Corporate Social Responsibility (Swachh Bharat) for public use. It is for the first time that Waltair Division got CSR funds from any organisation and building such refreshing longue would be unique in Indian Railways, he added.
