Srikakulam: A survey was being conducted to identify the differently-abled kids in the government and private schools and colleges across the district. The Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM) staff conducting a survey in all the schools to identify the mentally and physically challenged students from six to 18 years. In all, 295 employees of RVM is conducting the survey in 38 mandals across the district.

According to estimation, 7,844 children are suffering from mental and physical illnesses across the district. After identifying these students, the RVM officials will prepare a report and send it to the government. At present, mentally ill students are being provided education at their residences with inclusive education resident teachers.

After the survey, other government schemes will also be provided to these students. The survey is being conducted whether they are getting benefits from the government schemes are not, district coordinator for inclusive education A Sanjivi Rao explained.
