About 35 people who had a breakfast with chutney at a hotel in Ramavaram village fell sick with vomiting and loose motions. Of them, five persons, including Nalla Pandu, whose condition was serious, were admitted to Government General Hospital here on Tuesday evening.

Speaking to The Hans India, GGH superintendent Dr Raghavendra Rao confirmed the death of food poisoning victim Nalla Pandu. He further said that another batch of 13 food poisoning victims was brought to the GGH from Community health centre, Jaggampeta, on Wednesday evening. Raghavendra Rao said condition of one person among the latest group was very serious.

Meanwhile, district collector Kartikeya Mishra conducted a review meeting on the incident at Rajahmundry and said that they had issued orders to the food controller to seize the hotel at Ramavaram.

Mishra further ordered setting up of a medical camp at Ramavaram village and asked all the related corporation, municipal, panchayat raj officials to check all the hotels and restaurants in the district. ZP chairman Jyothula Naveen Kumar, Tummalapalli Ramesh Kumar and others consoled the victims and enquired about the incident.
