Civic body plans grand Ugadi fete

Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) is taking steps to celebrateUgadi festival on a massive scale, in association with various non-governmental organisations.

Corporation Commissioner Vijayarama Raju, speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, has said that all the programmes will reflectour culture andtraditions. He appealed to the people to participate in the festivities with traditional dresses.

RMC employees will also participate wearing traditional dress. Panchanga Patanam, Kavi Sammelanam, traditional dress show of children, popular eateries show, music concerts by singers, etc are the partof Ugadi festival and it will be celebrated like a jatara, he said.

Plans are afoot to bring Utsav Vigrahams of various temples includingKshetrapalaka Sri Venu Gopala Swamy to the venue and RMC is discussing theissue with Endowments department.

Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy temple management of Annavaram alsogave its consent to perform SanthiKalyanam at Pushkar Ghat on Ugadievening.

Many individuals and organisations have come forward to make the event a grandsuccess, he said and appealedto the people to witness Ugadi programmes and asked parents to bring their children to the festival with traditional dress.
