Stampede at Pawan Kalyan’s public meeting, 10 injured
There was chaos and stampede at a public meeting to be addressed by Jana Sena Party president K Pawan Kalyan on the occasion of party Foundation Day at the Bible Mission Grounds near Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district on Wednesday.
Guntur: There was chaos and stampede at a public meeting to be addressed by Jana Sena Party president K Pawan Kalyan on the occasion of party Foundation Day at the Bible Mission Grounds near Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district on Wednesday.
As many as 10 persons were injured during the stampede and they were admitted to hospital. The crowd was virtually uncontrollable and the police had a tough time in controlling them so as to enable smooth passage of the meeting. The police resorted to mild lathicharge to bring the situation under their control.
About four lakh people are expected to attend the public meeting. The organisers arranged 14 screens at various places to allow the public to watch the proceedings on the stage. About 5,000 seats were arranged for women and over 15,000 seats were arranged for VVIPs and VIPs. Around 600 police personnel deployed for security duties at the venue have already reached Mangalagiri.
